Regressing in sleep?
posted by nathan

I guess with the amount of bragging we do about how well our kids sleep, we've had this coming.  By this, I mean this week, when Aaron has suddenly gone from WONDERFUL sleeper who happily goes to bed at 8 and sleeps all night, to crying when we put him down, and waking up in the middle of the night crying for Mama and Daddy.

It's one of those annoying things where he cries hard like something is actually wrong, but once we go in to comfort him, he just smiles and wants to play.  Which would be cute if he hadn't been doing it for the past hour and a half, and it wasn't 4 in the morning right now.  But now it just says to me "Hi Daddy, nothing is actually wrong, I just wanted you to come in here."  Now tonight Audrey is wide awake as well, from all the crying her brother is doing, and gets all excited every time I walk into the room.

I've read that sometimes kids regress in their sleeping habits at around 18 months.  Is that what's going on?  Is it time to bust back out the "tough love" and let him cry for an hour?  Ugh.

(If anything in this post is incoherent, I apologize....it's 4 in the morning)

EDIT:  Well, after posting this, Aaron was soon back to normal.  He's sleeping great now, as usual!
