I took my first step (again!)
posted by audrey

I’m getting so good at my walking toys! I’m fast and cute as I wobble along, shaking my bum and picking up speed. So a few weeks ago Mommy and Daddy convinced me to take the kind of steps where you stand between them and sort of fall/step to them. That was my first first step. Then last week  Daddy helped me take a few steps down the sidewalk while just holding onto my hoodie. That was my second first step. Then yesterday at the library children’s section I definitely took a step and a half a few times all by myself!

Speaking of firsts, I also love to say Bye Bye (Bah Bah) and wave my hand. In the last couple of months I’ve said things that consistently sounded like “Da” when I see my Dad, “duck” (we have a ducky bathroom so I see lots of ducks), “cracker”, and occasionally “Gee” for my favorite monkey. But bye bye is a definite word I say and understand. In fact, I like it so much that I love going on walks and saying bye bye to every person in the cars that go by.

My super duper skills don’t stop there. I can understand things people say. I can point to what my parents are talking about when they say “nose, foot, shoe, sock, hair, outside, downstairs, monkey, and red button” (on my musical frenzy of a birthday present), and I’m learning more all the time! When my mom started quoting my new favorite book from Alana, “Hand Hand, Fingers Thumb,” I looked around the room and found it, opened it up, and started dancing along to the rhymes. If you don’t know this book you should check it out. It’s got a great rhythm.

Here are some pictures of one year old ME. In the first one I'm standing all by myself. In the second one I'm hanging out being cute, and in the third I'm showing off my monkey and my pony tail.
